This evening, our u14 A team made the long trip to Tarbert to play Northen Gaels. In ideal conditions for football, Spa started sharply when Eric Corcoran slotted home the first of his four goals. Spa were the better team for the opening stages of this game, but like previous games, a lack of concentration cost us with Northern Gaels hitting us with five goals in the first half. Our goals came from Nathan Jordan and three from Eric Corcoran. At half time, Northern Gaels were in the lead 5-4 to 4-3. The half-time whistle came at the right time, and the lads seemed to settle during the break. We were a different team in the second half. Our backs, who had been loose in the first half, were now touch tight and not giving Northern Gaels as much space or time on the ball. Our tough tackling centre back, Torin Lyne alone with our midfielders, were starting to take control of the game, which was giving our forwards a better platform to take the game to the opposition. When in the first minute of the second half Corcoran hit the back of the net for his fourth goal, the game was going to be decided by the team who could kick more points. Again, Eric kicked some beautiful scores from tight angles to push us ahead. James Brosnan, who finished with 6 points and Jack Gleeson, kept the scoreboard ticking over. Once we got into the lead, we were never going to lose this game. Once again, this team showed great spirit away in North Kerry to win this game when trailing at half time. Eoin Brosnan, who had a fantastic second half, also kicked one of our points. Final score Northern Gaels 5-10 Spa 5-14. Thanks to those parents who were able to travel and help out with lifts. Thanks also to Northern Gaels for a sporting game and also a word of thanks to the Ref. Our next A game is next Tuesday in Spa at 7pm v Ardfert
