A strong win for the Spa u16 team at home against Listry in the East Kerry league Div 1 semi-final this evening. The boys started off well, winning much of the ball in the middle of the pitch. Captain Daithà Staic with the opening goal bursting through the middle, followed by goals from Maurice Joy and Liam Moynihan. Listry stayed in the game, however, and early in the second half brought the game back to within 3 points.
Spa managed to wrestle control of the game again with good scores from Adam Moynihan and Rónán McCarthy. Liam Moynihan rattled the top corner of the goal after that to bring Spa well ahead, followed by another from the excellent Alex Doolan. Some strong defending at the back prevented Listry from adding to their 3 goals. Substitutions in the latter stage of the game sealed the win for Spa, with Conor O’Sullivan and Brendan McHugh contributing to goal tally.
